This is one of the most powerful questions you can ask yourself in your career. Why?
At the end of the day, the goal is to be aware of which tasks or activities tend to 'light you up' (energize you), so you can seek to do more of those things, and eventually craft a career around them that feels very much "on purpose."
In other words, you want a career that turns you into a little energizer bunny!
But where do you begin to answer such a question?
Believe me, there are clues all around you.
💡 What specific activities have you done in a past or current job that you really enjoy and find engaging? What kinds of tasks did you dislike and never want to do again?
💡What can you talk about for hours and hours and not get bored?
💡Imagine that you’ve decided to bite the bullet and create a Youtube channel! What would your first 3 videos be about?
💡Recall the last time you were in flow, as if you completely lost track of time engaged in an activity (nope, sleeping and watching Netflix doesn't count 😂). What were you doing?
I fully acknowledge that it’s not easy answering questions like this. We've been taught by older generations to be pragmatic, to find a job that offers security and great benefits - not what makes us come alive.
But in a disrupted age where Youtubers can earn more money than Surgeons, jobs we would absolutely LOVE are only just now being created, and anyone with a wifi connection can launch their own business…why wouldn't you take the time to think about it?
There are amazing possibilities out there, and I want you to be grabbing them with both hands! 🤙🤙
